Jalopnik's The Ten Best BMW 3-Series Variants Ever Made

I agree with most of this list. Thoughts?

Happy 40th birthday, BMW 3 series. In lieu of cake, we’re going to celebrate the best production models in your history.

Normally not a fan of Jalopnik, but I agree with the list for the most part.

I don't see how a ZHP was rated lower then a e36 325i, I think the publisher should have actually test drove the cars he picked.

I suppose, though the ZHP is a special car unlike a standard e36 325i. Also, that sub frame issue mostly affected early 323's and 328's.

I was excited for this, and then they included an e36 325i and left out the e30 M3. May a plague of frogs and locusts devour their homes and children :hitler:

The E30 M3 is #1 on the list.

he had me all the way to the fifth place.
when the mambo jamb on the later models began, this is where he lost me.

the first three generations were a huge leap forward, E21 over the 2002, E30 over the E21 and the E36 with its hyper-suspension over the E30 traditional.

form the E36 to the E46 the focus went to the engine.
following E46, there no more leaps, it was more refining work, styling work, elaborate paint and labeleing rather than creating real driving machines.

                  anyway,
a list of 10 best 3-series without the E21 is an off-list to begin with, and with such a high presence of post E46 cars, this list seems leaning more towards the commercial side than the objective-best-car-side

p.s. the 333i is a great rare variant, but beside being a nose-heavy i don't see what's so great with this version

I thought that list was kinda lame personally. Maybe 3 of the cars were good. Picking an obscure 333 and the down right lame e36 325i gave the list zero legitimacy.

that thing was far superior to the e36 325i!

                            that's no list, it's a freakin joke!
