Exactly, couldn't agree more on personal opinion. BUT just because one person thinks that car is worth it and will pay for it doesn't mean that's the actual value of it its just personal opinion. It means he over paid based on the actual value, if he feels fine paying that much then cool he got what he wanted but the car should have been priced around half that and I'm quite sure he would be much happier paying 12-13k for that car rather than 23k.... Especially if he ever tries to re sell it and cant find another guy with that much money to blow on an overpriced car.
Something tells me this car won't be resold any time soon....and if it is resold, it will be far enough in the future that shitty e30s will be netting $30k.
It might be rare, but it's a 14 year old Mustang. Yeah, you can make the argument that an E30 is just an old BMW. Some people would disagree. That's why this whole thing is subjective.
That's their clientele - guys that have money, and don't want the deal with a project. They know what their time is worth, and they're willing to pay extra to avoid the headache.
.
And when this happens, people hike up the price of their own shitty e30 because they THINK that's the value. Everyone here is basically arguing what they THINK the value is. When the hard facts are out it doesn't matter what anyone THINKS it matters what the real world value is, not the value to some rich guy who wants a stock e30. Im convinced no one actually has a clue what the real value of an e30 is they just throw a random price out and hope someone pays it.
Its just an e30 in the end, not rare, not special, not amazing. Its like keeping a 91 Honda accord clean and only putting 30k miles on it then asking 23k for it. Some idiot might pay it, but we are all going to look at it and say wow that's dumb. E30 and all car value is subjective so there is no way anyone can argue on what they think the value is. There is the real value that real dealers pull up and then there is personal value that some rich guy will pay. You cant argue personal value lol You can however say someone over paid based on the actual value.
Again, just take that car to a normal new car sales BMW dealer and ask what they would sell it for, then you will know the REAL world value and not the personal value that you THINK it is
Actual value huh? Determined by whom? Okay, so how much are the other 39k mile 318iS' going for? This one actually sold for $23k recently. It's now documented. It's now a point of reference whether u agree or not. When dealing with something limited with low supply and demand is growing, the value goes up...how high depends on the car. Obviously not many (if any) 318is are going to go for this much but then how many are in that condition with similar mileage? You may find a comparable car just like eag but how long might that take? That car will likely be sold as is without having been gone through as well. People value different things.

Obviously the OP doesn't care about book value. I don't either.
If you paid $6M for it, then that is exactly what it's worth. To you.
Yes to me, that's not the argument here, the argument is that OP over paid based on the ACTUAL value of that car, which he did. Personal value means nothing, go into a pawn shop and tell them your wedding ring is worth 7k, they wont give you anywhere near it because in the real world its a plain old boring white gold band, just like an e30.
the argument is that OP over paid based on the ACTUAL value of that car
Only to you and the handful of others belaboring that opinion, and you've made that argument ad nauseam.
The point you're (repeatedly) missing is that the "value" of the car doesn't matter to anyone except the buyer and the seller, and obviously they're both happy with where they ended up respectively, or they wouldn't have made a deal.
According to NADA, my 87iS is worth $7,375, and I won't even let you breathe on it for that.

And the point you and others are missing is the difference in personal and real world actual value. An appraisal done on that car wouldn't come close to what he paid. I'm not arguing personal value, I'm arguing the actual value of that car.
E30 M3 is also a 25 year old 4 banger. Sport evo is the most valuable e30 approaching $150-200k What's your point? If u posted ur car for 6M and it sold, then someone felt it was worth it. People can ask whatever they want for their car. In the end, it will sell for what someone feels it's worth. An autographed Magic Johnson jersey is worth more to a Laker fan than a Celtics fan.

Since you're so adamant that it's only worth $7k, why don't you go find us a few E30s in the same condition for that price.
I didn't say that, nada did.
Personally it's worth nothing to me, so if what you guys say about what one person would pay being the value then it's not worth anything. but based on real world value and sales kbb, black book and nada place it at 7-9k
Using your logic, it's "idiots" like the OP that are causing the market to rise. If these people didn't exist, the E30 would always be plentiful and cheap.
