Whatever. Go find me E30s in the same condition as the one he just bought for 7-9k. Tell me how many you find.

I would if people like op didn't over pay for them , not in this forum because most are convinced their 80k e30 is worth 18k.

What if the supply of E30s started dwindling though. Would the laws of supply and demand apply at all?

Do we need to go Bolshevik on these E30 owners driving the price up and set pricing at 3000 Rubles for a standard 1989 325iS?

man this place can be fucking weird sometimes. one month we've got threads like these discussing expensive ass non-M e30s with choice comments such as

I do not understand all the "negative waves" being expressed in this thread. Nobody here knows the OP but some here are calling him an idiot and a fool in so many words. How has this purchase hurt anyone here either personally or financially?

If a person wants a mint original one owner low mile E30 in well maintained condition( no smoke, always garaged, adult driven, no rust or corrosion anywhere), the price is over $20,000. It does not matter if EAG is selling the car or a private seller. It is a matter of supply and demand. These cars are becoming very popular and how many sub 50k mile examples in mint condition are for sale right now? I would say less than a handful.

The only other alternative is to have a car restored. That, as has been discussed above, is going to cost over $25k just for the restoration costs. So, if you want a showroom mint E30, the cost is over $20k no matter how you look at it.

Demographics are also relevant here. The people who want and can afford a mint low mile E30 are going to be well established in their careers and most likely older than 50 years of age. These people do not have the time or the inclination to fly all over the country inspecting cars or to become involved in the tedious and time consuming process of have a car restored even if a shop is doing it for them. These people simply write a check out of their checking account and then pick up their car. To them, paying $20k to an established dealer beats flying into an airport in California to check out a $10k car advertised as "mint" by a private seller.

Sorry bro. What people pay is beyond control because they will pay what they feel it is worth and supply is dwindling with every r3v'd e30. Why can't you understand this?

awesome car, great example of a unrestored e30,

I paid $5500 for my 61K 1988 M3 with a glass moonroof in 1999, yes it needed a head gasket but it was in rather good shape not "Minty Fresh" another term I can't grasp,

This may not specifically apply to a 318is, but to all of you who say cars are bad investments:

I wouldn't go that far bud.

                        It's probably worth 35 grand.

Someone's rattle can matte black bumper less "drift slut" isn't in the same league as this and is thus appropriately valued at sub $4k.

As others have said if the OP wants to spend it not I to have to go through the hassle of trying to restore the car and track down down numerous NLA pieces then yeah this is a great buy.

                              Congrats to the OP

I should really get an auction license and scoop up cheap/clean E30's then re-sell them for $20K. Nobody is paying $4K for 'drift sluts' I just don't buy it.
