    Can I expand a 2" inlet muffler to 2.5?

I've come across a supersprint muffler posted for 150obo on local craigslist. (seems cheap for the condition and muffler)

Seller contacted me back and mentions inlet is 2"

If I expand the inlet to 2.5 will it bottleneck? I'm assuming the internals are mated specifically for the 2"

Probably not. You can expand a pipe a few mm with a pipe expander but half an inch will take some cutting and welding.

I can go get it bored in that case, still wondering if the internals meant for a 2" inlet from the get-go would still work as I know some mufflers have bigger internal tubes than the inlet

just get a 2.5" muffler. even if you made it fit, it's still only 2" on the inside.

i just decided to go with the proper sizing muffler even though i've always wanted a supersprint. 2" internals will bottleneck severely even if I were to bore the muffler to 2.5
