Is it a GLH (2.2 Liter non turbo) or GLHS turbo? One of my best friends bought a GLH in 1985 to use as a SSB race car. It was fun when it ran but what a POS. We had to replace front wheel bearings every other race weekend (if we were lucky) We couldn't keep rod bearings in it, it rattled like they forgot to tighten every nut and bolt in the entire car when it was new. The gearboxes are very tender (30 years later it might be good to have a spare if it is your daily driver). The GLHS was the same car but the turbo let you break stuff faster. That was NOT a good time for Chrysler.
IF you do buy it give me a call I still have a set of OEM GLH 15" wheels in my garage I would love to get rid of.

Dude, that's an uber-rare CSX-VNT!
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

SVO's could be made to be pretty quick. They were better balanced then the 5.0 Foxes because of the obvious loss of weight on the front end. The headlight arrangement never suited me, but really cool cars none the less. I am shocked you found one with less then 100K on it. They weren't as popular due to not being a V8, and the public wasn't so accepting of turbo cars yet at that point.

The 86 svo was fuel injected.
They CAN be reliable enough for a daily IF you dont fuck with them. leave it mostly stock. You still have the issue of it being almost 30 years old. Ive had a few different cars with the 2.3t in it including a 300hp merkur xr4ti which is basically the us version of the Ford Sierra offered in europe. www.turboford.org for more info.

Point taken. I guess what keeps me looking is price, and attraction. If I had real money I would buy a new car. But my issue is with my current 2005 civic. Its is barely reliable due to the cooling issues, so it has me pissed. Despite the fact I keep up with all the maintenance, it still hates me.

yeah but didn't you basically replace or refurbish every part of the cooling system? i worked in a shop for five years and rarely saw that generation civic (or any generation of civic really) have major problems with them. be a little more persistent with the car and it will treat you significantly better than how any of these turbo 80's cars will.
and besides, if replacing every component of a cooling system and having a hood release cable break on you is all it takes for you to want to get rid of a car, i really really don't think any of these old car ideas are gonna work out well

It is good advice, and if you do research, you will see this is the most common issue with this generation of the civic. When I dropped my head of at the shop he had almost a dozen of the same heads on the table. Its not just these issues. I am bored with t. I have some sense I guess because today I was looking at the prior generation of civic hatch backs.
