I'd go with a Gallo 12 or a Gallo 24.
Or just turbo whatever is in it.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment

Gotta disagree here. I'm all for foreign swaps. I did a 5.0 e30 and hated it after a while. Was constantly working on it, but I think the problem was more the engine selection.
I just think of OP were serious, he wouldn't be asking a forum which motor to use. Most people who are going to tackle a motor swap just do it.
Seriously though, SR20DET is not a drop in swap. The 5.0 actually was surprisingly easy. But, if I were to build another e30 it would be an m20 turbo. I regret not doing that instead of the 5.0No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment

as in a 5.0 Ford 302??
If I was to do a V8 swap in one of these, I'd have to go LS, light and HP rating, the all iron V8 had to make for a nose heavy e3088 M3 Lachsliber glass top, 90 IS project,Comment

What? You cant be serious. Sure lets add weight, Spend a bunch of money on the rb to modify and upgrade the oil pump just to make 350hp. Rb's are garbage, the only ones worth building are 26's and I doubt he's going to do that.
The sr20det is a great engine swap candidate. I suggest you go with the s14 blacktop instead of the s15 sr. (s15 sr is 6 speed has a weaker trans, and requires the diff for speed signal. )
Also if you must go vvl it is expensive, almost as much as the sr swap easily $3000+ You can use that money to get a tune, injectors, and a gtx2876r. Youll make 400rwhp easily all day on e85.
There multiple sr e30's out there and its one of the best swaps out there for an e30 if you have the patience to wire it up and fab the mounts.
Theres a 700rwhp neo vvl sr e30 in my neck of the woods. Trust me if you build an sr its a great engine. I myself have built 4-5 of them and I love them.
Goodluck.Comment

[QUOTE=steve68;4485638]Yup, actually though the 302 isn't all that heavy, the blocks are thin and crack past 400ish hp. Also, the engine sits further back than the stock I6. I didn't notice any difference in the twisties, but then again I didn't track itneitherm.Gotta disagree here. I'm all for foreign swaps. I did a 5.0 e30 and hated it after a while. I just kept dealing with vibration issues, and finally got tired of yanking the trans every month. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment
