How much is my M20 worth?

I will be pulling it out of the car over the winter, how much is it worth to sell with the auto trans?

Its got 207k on it from a 90 325is, it runs and drives, doesnt sound great but it works. I dont want to make a killing on it, I just dont know what a fair price is for it.

    M20 ~$400-700
    Auto trans ~$150-200

Id compression test it before selling so you know you have a solid engine for sale and so the buyer knows he is getting a good engine. Paper work documenting work can also help you negotiate a higher price.

Id rent or buy one. They are 25-40 dollars new and the test is not hard to do. I know when I buy and engine I like to see comp numbers.

          207k mile M20, $400?

          Ummm, no.

You have a $200-300 engine, VERY much depending on compression figures. Auto trans are pretty difficult to give away. IF you left it together as a unit and didn't crack the two apart, you might get $400 from someone who doesn't want to deal with swapping/taking their trans off the engine and staying automatic.

If there has been work to the engine, that's a completely different ballgame. If you're selling it with accessories, harness, ecu, etc, different ballgame.

Drove to jersey and picked up an m20i for $250 when I got my black sedan and first joined here.

m20s in the PNW routinely go for 7-8 depending on mileage. I'd say that an m20 with 200k plus miles is still a 500 dollar motor if running properly.

Sadly true. A lot has to do with all the racing done around here. SPEC-E30 and Pro-3 is buying up a lot of parts such as motors...

                  But I digress.

If I got $500 for the set I would be more then happy. I was honestly thinking people were going to say $2-300 for the set. Either way when I pull it out I will post it up and see what happens.

                      This is much more realistic.

Dude, I will sell you M20s *all*day*long* at that price. How many would you like?

I've throw away at least 5 m20 at this point. If you look around you can get a m20 for free. Selling one? Hmm $200 to a stranger I guess is ok. For a bro, $50-$100.

I will tear my engine out today and sell it for $500. A friend of mine picked up a ~130k M20 with a rebuilt head, G260 and exhaust for $350. I see them going for $100-$200 completely stock in the North East
