    what color is bmw's ATF2?

    silly question, but i am about to do a trans service on my x5, and just want to know what color the atf2 fluid is, brand new. kinda like to know before I break out the funds.

    If I'm not mistaken, its like a bright cherry wine color.

      I think it has to be red to be ATF, right? Otherwise, we'd think it was ATE Blue brake fluid!

      Hee...

      But seriously, I'm pretty sure federal regs state atf has to be red. Looking at recent comparos
      on hydraulic fluids vs atf, and that seems to be a constant, whereas almost everything
      else varies.

        I can never be too certain, i know when I worked for Benz a few years ago, they started running a blue trans fluid on some of their new products (>2010)
