talk me out of buying another e30 - Tonight

Fuck me, I'm about to buy yet another e30.

Is this a logical and wise move? (Likely no.)

Planning to daily it in Colorado, kick my current daily 01 Malibu out the door, ...the Malibu is low miles, I know the issues, its "reliable"... Should I really do this?

Looking at a 89 325ic... Just shy of 200k on the clock, basically double the current miles on my daily Malibu, which I loath. I detest it, but in a useful way,... like I don't give a shit if its there when I get back to its parking spot, door dings on the malibu do not bother me. Its a freeing feeling.

I should be able to financially break even after a few "new because i just bought it" parts to assure it will be ready to daily. Am I going to severely regret switching to this convertible during the winter? One of my biggest grips with the Malibu besides the whole ignition switch ordeal is that the malibu's heater sort of sucks compared to a normal e30. Is the vert top going to negate the awesomeness of e30 heaters?

Of course the actually driving experience will be it's own topic and isn't much to debate... But I have a feeling I may be just about to either do something really stupid or it is taking a huge risk that might pan out and I will be extremely happy with... Its a tough call.

I buy it at 9am MDT unless I come to my senses before then... But fuck me, I can't sleep.

dont be a wuss. just do it. my cabrio still puts out good heat. i do have to generally run it at a higher fan speed than with the coupes i have had.

i think the biggest issue would be top leaks.

There is a seal leak at windshield top left... But top is good condition. Other than high miles and a little missing trim, it fits the bill. Seems rust free.

Are any of the important vert components NLA?

For the record, on the whole e30 tax bullshit, there are no less than 3 decent 325 for sale on Denver craigslist with reasonable initial asking prices, right now.

And no, said car in question is not one of them.

              Its just money, right?

I put 3-4k on my swapped coupe a month. The ONLY reason I want to switch to a different daily is to save my cars mileage.

And even at that, I'm looking into newish Mercs that cost four times what my e30 is worth.....to save my e30.

My point, do it. Even without AC and being lowered, I would rather drive my e30 any day. Plus I get 26-28 mpg. M50.

And that is why I have been dailying this Malibu, to keep my euro sheltered in the garage and off the roads full of moronic commuters. This would be a "use it up" second e30 so I can have my cake and eat it too.

Fuck, I'm just gonna go for it.

Don't get ic for denver. Winters here and who know how much rust the thing has. Sell the malibu and buy an even better e30.....or e28!!!

My coworkers are legitimately going to think I'm crazy when I start dailying a vert on the cusp of and through the winter.

...it might work to my advantage if I play it off correctly.
Almost ready to head out and go get it.

Look at it this way. Rust isn't a real concern here in Colorado. They don't use salt on the roads. Winters aren't too bad, and the summers are nice.

Shit, my last very was a daily and never skipped and beat. Leaked through the top a bit and leaked a bit of oil. The one I have isn't much different. Doesn't leak from from the top and has a new window in the rear. Just leaks a little oil.

                              Fuckin' do it.
