SMG technically is faster than a manual as well.
SMG Vs DCT on the street is very noticable, SMG is clunky, slow, does not downshift very well, etc.
DCT is pretty much spot on every single time (so is the new ZF 8 speed automatic that BMW uses in everything)
On a racetrack SMG is great (as is DCT) however I always need to help it make that perfect downshift, otherwise it would slip the clutch a little and unsettle the rear.. (this was in an E46 M3)
I want an e60 m5 now baaaad

I reeeeally want this as my next car. Not the most responsible/cheapest option, but god damn, there is just too much about this car to pass up.
Catch me next summer in an Imola Red M5 going down pch;DLeave a comment:

They made 1364 of them and in the late models they are not very common.
Took me 6 months to find mine and its a real treat to drive.. the SMG really took some of the soul away from it.Leave a comment:

She wants the manual too. Did they make it in a manual? I sure as hell hope they didLeave a comment:

Yeah.....automatics have no soul.....
I know it is a sequential manual, but she's driving an automatic, not a manual M5Leave a comment:

^This. S54's need rod bearings constantly too, I don't see anyone complaining about them being POS motors. RPM's do stuff to moving partsHow the hell is it a POS? Just change the rod bearings and be done with it!
I've seen this mentality alot toward BMW M engines.. heaven forbid they require more maintenance over an M50 :p
M62 is a great engine as well, and the timing guides are not that hard to do
I have an e39 m5, it's awesome but kinda ugly. I think I would buy an e60 m5 because I love the car, but they are just a bit more ugly.
Re: this video- I watched about 45 seconds. Seemed like every other car review video out there that's trying to copy Chris Harris or similarLeave a comment:

How the hell is it a POS? Just change the rod bearings and be done with it!Rod bearing eating POS wouldn't touch a S85 or S65
other than the S62 every BMW motor thats not an inline 6 or 4 is a POS
M60 Nikasil
M62 Timing chain & guides failure
N62 Valve Stem seals & coolant leaks
S65 & S85 Rod Bearings
N63 Eats batteries, Oil & has timing chain Issues
M70 just crap

"With all the attention that is focused on M5's we can't help but look back... the most notably, the e60"

I respect the car but I have never found it attractive at all, this video also sucked and I am refusing to embed it purely for that reason.Leave a comment:

"It's got all the great styling of the 5 series". I quit when she said that.
Yeah, I'd rather spend a 4 minutes with Lambo.Leave a comment:

I think lambo was talking about how terrible he is at being a hairdresser.
It's shear disappointment I tell you.Leave a comment:
