    Help Pricing E30?!?!

Well, I likely have to sell my vert in order to help fund, and make room for, another (awesome, to be announced) project. I would appreciate some input on the value of the vehicle.

You can see my full project thread here:
    http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=360511

1993 325i Convertible (She is young: 11/1992 build date)
    Schwarz 2
    Black leather sport interior
    67k original miles
fully documented repair history from 1995 to 2015
    hardtop, less a headliner
    crack free dash
    factory option 3.73 LSD
    original radio
    A/C still works
    almost zero rust
soft top is a good portion duct tape
Everything in the car works, with the exception of the electric soft top (but both motors appear to work)
crossed drilled and slotted front rotors
The vehicle was re-VIN'd in 1994 as someone attempted to strip the VINs from the vehicle.
    Title is clean
I don't think this car could run any better.

What I've done in the last 30 miles (just driven to storage since finishing):
5 speed swap (car was originally a 5 speed from the factory)
    new shaft seals
    new clutch
    new pilot bearing
    new slave cyliner
    new master cylinder
    new guibo
    lightened flywheel
    B&M SSK
    stainless clutch line
    Stance Coilovers
    Poly Subframe bushings
    Poly Rear Trailing Arm bushings
    Delrin offset Control Arm Bushings
    stainless brake lines
    New Transmission mounts (OEM)
    Poly Diff bushing
    Diff reseal
rear seat repaired (was separating at one seam)
    new tie rod ends
    Garagistic RSM reinforcements
    New Valve cover gasket
    New fluids everywhere
    New fuel filter
    Rear Seat Headrest kit
    momo steering wheel refinished
    ZHP shift knob
New rear brakes (crossed drilled rotors)
    Bav auto plug wires
    new spark plugs
    valve adjustment
Repair hardtop (tree branch fell on it and put a hole in it)

The interior is out of the car and the hardtop is awaiting paint. I would be putting the interior back in before sale. I'd be open to painting the hardtop for the buyer, leaving as is, or not including at all..

I just don't really have any photos on hand as the interior has been out of it for almost as long as I've owned it. Interior is in excellent shape. Only flaw was the rear seat, which I had professionally fixed by New England Trim in Shrewsbury, MA.

Upholstery the day I got it back from NET:

Steering wheel and pedals in progress photos:

May I ask what makes you price it so low? The car is complete, very low mileage, and completely gone through.

      Thanks for the input.

it appears to be a 3/4 finished project. the hardtop is very desirable, but doesn't make the car look very good with the vinyl peeled off and no headliner. how are its seals? you said the folding top is trashed?

for what ever reason, cabrios seem to have less value than coupes unless its mtech 2. i am a cabrio guy, so i'm not basing this on my opinion. i am basing it on what i see in the market. the pool of buyers is simply more limited.

what specifically do you mean by "almost no rust"? have you pulled the carpet up to look at the floor pans? leaky tops usually mean there is an issue there.

also you have a minor geographic problem. since you are in the rust belt, no one from say further than a 200 mile radius will likely be interested in this car. you won't be getting calls from people in texas/georgia/california, etc. this will limit your market of buyers somewhat.

your best bet would be to finish up the car and then sell it. you will still take it in the ass, but it is your best hope of recovering close to half of your money.

people that spend good money on these cars don't want rust and they don't want projects.

i'm sorry i this isn't what you want to hear, but i am trying to give you my honest opinion.

Perfect, thanks. Just wanted to understand where you are coming from.

I'd say the project is 100% complete mechanically (at least it's as far as I wanted it mechanically), and how far you want to take it aesthetically is open.. Carpet is pulled out right now, and there is one rust hole approx the size of golfball in the passenger side floor pan - I cleaned all the rust off it and coated it with zero rust until I could fix it. Car has had the hard top on for years, so no water issues from the bad soft top. Puttng in the interior will take me <1 hour, so I'd definitely do that before sale.

Hardtop seals are good, and yes the soft top is trash. I'll probably end up replacing the soft top and selling it without the hardtop. Hardtop is ready for paint and I have been quoted at $300 to have it professionally sprayed. I think it's worth more not with the car though..

You are selling at the wrong part of the year. Much like most cheap motorcycle sales that happen in winter.

Re-vin a car? That is a first for me. What is the title situation? Theft recovery/salvaged/? Odd you say it's listed now as a 94. That would be a big issue with dmv/insurance dealings.

I don't mind waiting until spring to sell, certainly not a good time to sell a vert e30 in MA.

Car is still listed as a 1993, but NY assigned a new VIN in 1994. Title is clear and not branded in any way. From my understanding, it was inspected by the state in 1994 and found to be harmed in no way other than a couple VINs removed (no VIN on dash, and they tried to scrape it off the doors).

              Here is the title.

You can see the VIN listed is not typical at all. There are also VIN stickers (with the VIN shown on the title) placed all around the car next to the original VINs.

NY had issues some years back with title washing some years back? Not sure but I do know NH and RI had serious issues.

Interesting.. This car was owned by the same family ever since it was re-VIN'd, so I can't imagine a problem with that.

op's probably better off parting it out

he's already done most of the interior disassembly

I bought a vert two days ago after watching CL and Ebay for the last month or so. Not sure about Massachusetts, but within 200 miles of me (Philly, DC, Baltimore, etc.), prices of E30s were all over the place. CL ads outnumbered Ebay ones by 15:1 I bet. I would suggest setting some alerts for CL ads within 200 miles of your location and seeing what comes up and at what prices. Then, you will have a better idea when it comes time to sell it in the Spring (I'd wait until then to sell).

If you where in Belgium you could easily get 8K for this, verts are the most expensive e30's here. Mint 325 verts are going up to 15-20k..

The best thing would indeed be putting it back together and maybe wait until march/early spring. I'm selling my vert to but waiting for the first good weather to show up

I'm pretty on top of the e30 scene here (Northeast USA), and I haven't found that coupes or verts have much of a value advantage - coupes do seem to appeal to more people as most people here are still building them as track/drift/whatever toys but I rarely see much of a difference in actual value.

Based off the prices I see on here and elsewhere, I think $8k would be a very achievable number (probably low) if I finished it off.
