Need your help solving this one

Just talked to my room mate about some car trouble she had.

The low down is. She's driving an 04' 325i down the highway until suddenly her tire sheers off from her front left rim. As in most of the tire rolls of safely but there's still some rubber left on the rim.

Right when this happened, from what she described, it seems like the power steering went out, brakes stopped working, and she only remembers the center console going dead. Engine was still on the entire time. The window buttons remained dead after all of this.

She took it to a shop and all they did was give her new rims and tires, alignment, aesthetics. All the other juju either 'fixed' itself by the time it got to the shop or... she can't remember haha

I don't know enough about e46's to tackle this. Perhaps some sensor went haywire and put the cpu in protect or something??? So what y'all think?

OP could of used a pickup line dealing with new rubber or needing rubber. Just like your room mate and her tire, you blew it.

Is she absoutely sure the engine was still on? Only way for PS pump and power brake to go is if the engine dies.... Or the PS pump explodes and the vacuum line to the booster breaks at the same time. But those would be seen in an inspection.

I'm thinking she may have electrical issues in her DME which cause the engine to spontaneously shut off. Also helps explain the window switches not working... The DME could've hurt/fried the BCM (body control module) when it took a shit.

E46's don't have many electrical problems, but the ones that do are very weird. Mine will sometimes illuminate the traction control, brake and EML lights. Cycle the ignition and it goes right way.

Ha, she was a SDSU sorority girl too so keep feeling horny fellas.

This happened last year so her memory wasn't so spot on. I asked her again but she said she was too much in panic mode to remember, a la going 80 mph into a guard rail. *missed it by 2 ft.*

So let's assume the engine turned off because nothing showed up in the inspection.

Your electrical problems, Keine30, seem to confirm the plausibility of what happened to her. Just the timing with her tiring coming off her wheel is a weird happenstance. Thanks for the input!

                It happened a year ago.

By a young woman who was panicking.

And you're looking into it now?

Most likely the car was simply out of control and that's why she thought nothing worked. Brakes don't work well if one tire is gone. Steering feel is going to be shit with one tire gone. No shit.

Oh hai Mr. Kershaw? Sorry to interrupt your soap box moment but this is concerning your custom order of the '2 in 1 ass to skull fuck dildo'. We seem to have lost your selection in color. 'Black as balls deep in your throat'? Or 'Pink as the vagina that you ain't getting'?

We randomly talked about it and it seemed that this was a proper place to try to figure out the puzzle.
