    Unfortunately cars get abandoned at shops all the time. It's ridiculous how often it happens.

    Sure, OP may have A title that has his name on it, but I doubt it's valid anymore.

    This thread reminds me of the prison guy who was trying to track down his car.... Just a little less hostile.

      Took police to his house they said to sue. He Refused to return the car or answer texts after he finished the engine swap. So I went with the police and refused to answer the door and that was that

          I feel like this shit happens every couple of months.

          First, the correct thing to do would be to talk to the mechanic. If you can't work something out, figure out how to sue the mechanic in small claims court to get your car(s) back.

          However, before you do that, realize you abandoned your car there for over a year. He can charge your storage fees, which by now must exceed the value of your car. Also, the mechanic can get a new title for the car after a certain amount of time. So probably legally the mechanic's car now.

          Call it a learning experience, get another car, move on with life.

            OP clearly didn't care enough about the car to make sure he was on good terms with Mechanic. As a result, abandoning the car for this long is just unreasonable if OP was expecting to get his car back.

            IMHO, OP's screwed. Move on with life and realize the importance of keeping a good working relationship with ppl if you want to be able to work with them (or have left something you value in their possession).
            If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

                Move on probably is right. I forgot to mention he had a lawyer contact me but I never got in touch not continued. I feel like I could still sue for breach of contract. Regardless I should contact the dmv and see if they can help me


                It wasn't a shop but a BMW mechanic/ BMW forum member named m5Jed/ Jed Pineda out of Anaheim

                    OP put the last of his money into the vehicle and mechanic decided to steal it and then hide behind lawyer to keep it. I would've gotten the car and tried many times but was denied each one of them. One time I went there and called the police before I went and explained the situation. Then as I am waiting at his house for the police , I get a call from the police saying that he is accusing me of staking him and harassing him. The police tell me they will ignore him and that they will arrive shortly. The dispatcher laughs at him and tells me I was wise to call them before hand. Police arrive and they bang on his door but he refuses to answer. We wait a bit longer and then they tell me to take it to court. Maybe you're right. Regardless of how I treated he lied to me many times about my car being fixed and then ignored my calls when I drove from SF to LA to get her.
                    Eventually I was flat broke and become homeless and spent a few nights in some shelters in SF before getting back on my feet.
