    Lots of nice pics^^^

I was into Audis until my 1.8T ate its rod bearings in the middle of nowhere. It's such a good car (especially in the winter), but it still pisses me off.

General question: Why do two-strokes have that big expansion chamber (?) in the exhaust? I remember seeing it on all the dirt bike exhausts and wondering why.

The old hotrodders used to say "If it won't go, chrome it."

it has to do with pulling the charge through the engine as efficiently as possible since 2 strokes don't have traditional valves...

              OOoo! I have questions!

What is going on with the plumbing in that boat engine? Some kind of manifold pre-heating? ...or cooling? If it's an intercooler, what is hot exhaust doing in there??

That twin-engine dragster is the Ford Indy engine I believe.

What the hell is that third one? Lonnnnng stroke...or tall heads?

The first one with the blower is a reverse flow Nailhead. Apparently there wasn't much room to port the heads, so guys would get custom cams and run the intake through the exhaust, and the exhaust out the intakes. Supercharge them, then make HUGE power.

The last one all I saw was the piping and thought it was cool. Some flathead V8 thing.

Oh I see - the blower pushing through the red pipes into the old exhaust ports - that's crazy talk! Red pipes don't seem big enuf, do they..

I see now the third one is a cutaway without the block and heads - just a display. But still cool.

This is a machine shop in my town, 3rd generation owners. They'll fix your cracked Subaru heads, or they'll regrind your industrial monster crank!

So cool to watch them use cranes to move engine parts around.

                      Moar Alfas...HAH!

8C 2900B - designed by Vittorio Jano, who designed famous engines for Alfa, Lancia, and Ferrari.

Straight 8 - two aluminum blocks joined at the middle with the cam gear drive in the center to reduce cam and crank twist.
                      Two Roots blowers.
Weber carbs are under the blowers and draw UP. Different.

This is a glamorous road-going version of the 2900 race cars. It's about to auctioned at Sotheby's, where they think it might go for $15 million. Insane.
