I figured I had a heater core leak but I would have noticed a green puddle. The water had ended up in the pan behind the passenger seat and I swear it was straight water. Before I noticed the stain on the carpet (floor mats mostly disguised it) I thought it must have rained hard during shipment and leaked from a door sill or something. I love these forums for collective knowledge. I'll dig in and check it out. I hope it's as simple as the elephant drain and not something larger. I'm already $600 into replacement hoses and gaskets and I've only driven the car once for 10 minutes since I got it two weeks ago. It's been on jack stands ever since lol

Clogged elephant drain. Does this look familiar! Mine is cracked and dry but not crumbled. I may try to put it back in the hole until I feel like buying a new one or come across a parts car w a good one. I put my finger in the hole in the firewall and felt a loose piece of plastic or something. Is that normal or do I need to open her up and peek in there??

So to test if this fixed the problem...I could just spray the windshield area with water to simulate rain or a car wash...and if it drains properly and no water shows up on carpet, then that at least eliminates this from the equation. I'll still have to check to see if I'm getting a heater core leak after I get all the plumbing out back together.

Just because it is draining doesn't mean it isn't still leaking through the gasket.

Thank you MC hammered. Clearly this is just the beginning in another "search for the mysterious leak" experiment. Hahahah I'll report back why I find. Thanks for the thread share.

Oh Jesus. I just found out my car has no blower motor either. When will it end!?!? The previous owner says he paid two Mexicans (no offense to Mexicans) $40 to replace the wiper motor and ever since then the AC stopped working. Yeah well looks like they stole the blower motor and the PO was too stupid to realize it. Unbelievable. Now I need to consider how much I like this car and how far I'm willing to go with it. Can't live without heat and AC. F my life right now.

Search for a used one on here, new ones can be spendy. If you dont have the plastic cover (not the cover in the above picture, theres a smaller plastic cover behind it the size of the blower motor) you should order that too.

most cars have old, faulty blower motors anyway so I'd consider that a toss up. New blower motors are around 200 and you wanna pick up a blower motor resistor as well for 25

My car drips from just above the glove box hinge. I can't tell if it's my windshield gasket or something else but it doesn't rain enough to tear the whole car apart

The A/C expansion valve is right where the source of your leak is

Thanks guys. All good info. I found a guy that sold me a 4.10 LSD last week who has the entire heating/cooling system intact and is willing to tear it all out of his parts car and sell it to me at a really reasonable price. I'll update when I have more info.

If the ac expansion valve were the culprit...what would it be dripping? Refrigerant? Water from condensation?

^ I'm not sure. It's plausible that without the blower motor to move the cold air away from the evaporator, pressure within the A/C could build up causing a seal to fail.. but that's just speculation. About as much headache as replacing the heater core so take off that panel and see watcha got!

Just a quick note. If you're gonna do this mod you'll need a 5/8"x3/8" reduction fitting. I got mine from mettle air. $10 piece but chose expedited shipping and it still took a week to get it. See photos.
