Seller says it is a 1990 325IS, I asked for a VIN to have it checked out.

Looks like a 90. The rear bumper is the plastic bumper and the lower valance is also late model. You can also tell its a late model by the rear wheel arches. That is the wrong front bumper for the year car it is.

this seems correct actually. but the bumper probably came from an 88 since it fits the late model front end. kind of a weird setup.

1988 e30's and all convertible have shorter metal bumpers. That is an early front metal bumper but not an 88 or convertible. Just look at how much that bumper sticks out. If you can sit on the bumper like a seat or tailgate it is early metal bumper (84-87).

From the pictures this is an 89 or newer. If it has an airbag than what the seller is saying is probably true and it is and 91. Airbags only came in 1/2 of 90 and all of 91 E30's. To me it looks like someone smashed the bumper of their 91 e30 and replaced it with and early metal bumper. To get back to normal you would need an 89+ bumper along with the matching bumper shocks.

No, that's not the right bumper for that car. Should be a plastic bumper like the rear.

was probably in an accident and it was cheaper to put the db's on there than to put plactics.

88s have late tailights, fenders and valances.
