Chris didn't realize one of his shots was going to make the cover. He was one of a half dozen people that sent me their digital pics from the day. The composition and sun angle all worked out. The picture is actually shot landscape, but was cropped portrait to layout on the cover.

I like the shot, it is old-school with both cars on stock wheels. And in all it is really colorful. I'm just happy an E30 is on the cover at all.

BTW, there is going to be some coverage of the Picnic in the Roundel too.

Haha Lance did you do any photoshop work to the pic because the paint is peeling off my front valance but in the pic it looks good.

Yes I did work the photo over a bit with photoshop, though my P-shop skills are pretty minimal. Basically correcting some contrast. I don't think I got into fixing peeling paint though.

Josh's most traveled award had just a slight asterik due to his E30 DNF'ing the night before, but he still made it up, so we didn't penalize him for not having his E30 at the meet. He won the Griot's Garage Traveling Kit, I figured whoever traveled the furthest deserved the Traveling Kit. It was worth a hunded bucks!

Is it known whether next year's picnic is in the middle of the year again like this time or is it later like August like back last year? Just wondering..work made it impossible to make it up in the middle of the busiest month :(

2007 E30 Picnic date is Sunday, June 10. Already confirmed. Same location. The Triple-X is pretty central for both the Oregon and BC folks to get to.

Basically how they are doling out dates now that the whole year is full is we get the Sunday before Father's Day weekend. They have about 10 groups on a waiting list wanting a Sunday date there for their car shows.

Even though the cover had stockish looking e30s I still thought it was a cool shot with lots of color and the XXX in the background.

Lance great job again putting on such a sweet event. I think we need to work on more people bringing parts though. A swap meet type thing would be cool, but I dont know where we would put it which is probably why we dont have it.
