Just yesterday Mighty Car Mods did a video on how to install a fire extinguisher, timely.
Hope you can get some of the money back from the car & hope it had comp coverage!Comment

Do it dude I bought one and idk why I didn't throw it in there before hand.
It's one of those things I never thought would just happen. And boom within 10 minutes all of the time at work I spent to save for the car, all the time working on it, all the time shagging parts, gone. The $, gone. I've been handling it well I think then it gets me and it just hurts emotionally so so so so bad. It's this crushing feeling of sadness and dissapointment and frustration and disbelief and it's just tearing me apart. Idk about you guys but the e30 was my anchor. It was my drive (no pun intended). "Well shit I need to put the new dif in it, it's time to get out of bed!" Even though working on it sucked sometimes, life is going to be considerably worse without a car to wrench on. I don't even know what to do about it. I have no hobby now.
shit is sappy but the truth. There are always other cars but considering how much time we dedicate to them it would be dumb (use me as an example) to not have a fire extinguisher in the car.Last edited by e30onBBSs; 04-20-2016, 08:57 PM.BMW tech

Wow man that's rough. I absolutely understand how youre feeling about the work put in and how much of a release a nice car can be. Most people here would probably agree. Glad you got out before anything worse could have happened to you.

How far back did the fire get in the engine compartment. If it just stayed near the front, you may be able to just cut out the affected sheet metal and get the car back together..1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

Thanks for the kind words bros =)
And it didn't go so far back but it definitely went through the passenger side battery tray a bit or through the fire wall.
I don't have space to pull an engine or anything and I don't know how to weld and my parents might move soon so I don't think I'm going to/ be able to pursue the car anymoreBMW tech

A fire truck was actually sitting 150 feet from where I parked, but it flared up too fast to save the car. The suspension I retained and is on my current ix. The rest of the car was parted out.
It COULD have been saved, but I wasn't about to rewire the whole engine bay. The fire was pretty contained to the front of the engine. Even the transmission was parted out and lived on in another car.AWD > RWDComment
