That class was how to wreck a clutch 101.

This is the first thing I teach once we get into actually moving the car forward.....to get used to releasing the clutch smoothly so the car begins moving, without gas.

It's not an awful thing to teach provided the pupil knows that this is only to be used to understand clutch engagement. For a novice driver, maybe it makes sense, but for anyone who has driven an automatic it's should be fairly natural to understand that function. But I don't advocate because I like to get people thinking about moving both clutch & throttle pedals together as a unit.

We aren't talking about novice drivers....we are talking about beginner manual drivers. To each their own. This method just taught a bitchy 16 year old to drive a 99 pass at manual without crying or throwing a fit....success in my book

Well that's a let down, I thought I was gonna learn a secret that Big Oil has been trying too suppress. I guess I'll have to go back to my hydrogen generator then...

Learned to drive stick on my vert just in an empty neighborhood. My dad taught me the basics and I did the rest. E30s are super easy to learn on. I agree with everyone else in that thyere very forgiving and yet I still dont have problems driving other cars that are difficult to drive, like g35s and whatnot. Even "racecars" (street cars with modified clutch setups, but my friends call them racecars)
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
