IE shorty headers vs the long tube headers

OK, it seems that I am in the loooong wait for the IE long tube headers that alot of people seem to be in.
My exhaust is shot and ,of course, before I get my exhaust made I am wanting some better headers (not the $700 supersprint). I am missing driving my bimmer, so I am getting frustrated with the wait now.
Will there be a big difference in the long tube over the shorties (performance wise)? If not I am going to get the shorties and call it a day. Anyone using the shorties? like them? Should I just wait?

I will be putting the M30 AFM, 19# injectors, and mark D chip on also, and will do a 2.7 stoker in 5-6 months, this might make a difference in my header choice too.
    Any thoughts?

Not sure just how much of a difference can be noticed between running the shorties versus the long-tube headers....are the tube diameters the same? I wouldn't expect headers alone to make much in the way of gains that can be felt through the butt-dyno - your 2.7L stroker definately will though. The head on the M20 is the bottleneck in the flow path so things like valve size, port shape, and cam shaft should be looked into if you want to see the most significant gains.

I know that, I just dont want to get the shorties if they are going to hurt performance down the road.

Long tube is much better. Wait on the long tubes.

shorties make almost no difference compared to stock.. save your money!

keep in mind good headers CAN make a big difference on an otherwise stock motor.

              Boy ain't lyin...

Shorties are almost purely a cosmetic upgrage. They might make a slight difference, but it's hardly going to be noticeable.

That's the way it goes sometimes, bro. They'll be worth the wait.
