Salvage title, seriously wtf

OPs logic is as follows:

"There is a beautiful diamond that has a sheet of paper that says at one point in its long life something happened to it, which I do not fully understand, nor do I understand the severity of the reasoning behind the faulty note on the piece of paper. Therefore, regardless of its beauty and cleanliness, it must be sold for half price."

No, your comparison approach is horribly incorrect.

Diamonds can be cut to diminish the flaws. Cars can't. Therefore, salvage title.

Salvage title doesn't tell you anything about the flaws of a car. All it tells you is how the cost of the damage related to the value of the car at the time. When you could get a pretty decent E30 for $1500 or less, that didn't take a whole lot.

And, going by that logic - most "flaws" on a car can easily be repaired, just as a diamond can be re-cut.

Heres my perspective from a mathematical perspective.

An E30 is valued (by whomever, KBB NADA Hagerty, etc) to be worth $3,000.

This $3,000 car gets into an accident causing $1,500 in damage.

BOOM salvage. Where this $1,500 in damage is irrelevant to an insurance adjuster.

If you have a salvage car and the damage was all cosmetic, I would consider it. If the damage was structural, I would need to see how the repair was done, then it could be considered as well.

The salvage title isnt dictated by WHERE the damage was, but HOW MUCH IT WILL COST to fix it.

Take a 30+ year old car and its VERY easy to get them flagged with a salvage title

I never once stated where the damage lays makes it salvage title...but a salvage title has a lower true value. No one on here seems to understand this. Therefore my perceived rant.

I am doing my best to respond to your thread with the same level of thinking that has created it. Though this is rather difficult for me, as getting my head this far up my own ass is not something I am currently capable of.
