I agree this one was the best. Hammond pissing off may to no end. Feels like things used to be -
this episode was the best of the three. James May in his Rolls Royce drop top in Italy.. magnifique!
The ending was the best thoughLeave a comment:

Top Gear has been kind of shitty just like this show for a long time now. The only good episodes are the travel episodes or budget challenges.Leave a comment:

I personally thought the show would be a lot better. The trailers looked amazing. Still going to continue to watch it though. I agree with most people that 2nd episode was boring as hell.Leave a comment:

"What was the last movie you watched in here?"
"Mystic River"
How can anyone post that video and still argue he isn't a redneck. If you're from America, you're a redneck.
Edgar Allan Poe? Redneck
Bernie Sanders? Redneck
Me? RedneckLeave a comment:

qftfalse.
even in sa they know the value of the uber rare e30's. Back in the early 2000's i was looking for a replacement for my 86 325es. I contacted a cousin of mine who knew of someone who recently (at the time) purchased a 333i that was sitting for some time. Even back then they didn't want to part with it as they knew it's heritage and value in the marketplace.Leave a comment:

First episode was pretty good. Second episode blew. For an hour long car show, I felt like less than half was actually about cars.
I hope it gets better.Leave a comment:

I personally found episode 2 boring I think they are having issues with trademarks and copyrights with BBC. So I would be shocked if they were able to do the moderately priced car bit. I also think the reason they keep acting like they are going to bring celebrities on and then killing them off is because they can't do the bit where they drive around the track. I will be interested to see what the next episodes do but someone has to reign in clarkson a bit. Every joke is terribly staged (the ape joke in particular) the whole show just doesn't feel genuine. The military thing I still don't even understand why that was in there I didn't find any aspect of it funny (once again staged)Leave a comment:

Finally got a chance to watch the last episode last night with the wife..
Truth be told, she watches Top Gear a lot more than me (I know, I know, what's her deal? Right?)
:)
But we both agreed, it wasn't THAT bad of an episode. It still felt like a Top Gear Episode with the flow and production. Sure, some of it was a little weak, and maybe the military thing could have been cut down a bit, but there was still some fun to be had.
Stuff I liked:
-The track corner names still make me giggle for stupid, childish reasons
-The parts of the military training where they had to keep doing stuff over and over. I don't know why, but to me I thought it was funny that they had to keep "acting" like they were in great peril each time..
-The fact James kept killing or trying to convince the Queen to change.
-Mike Skinner. I like the act, it makes me laugh.
-Hey, there were E30's at least, yeah, they treated them like sh*t, but at least it was airtime.
-The intro. I really liked the short, quick intro. Once they get the show dialed in, I think it will make more sense.
What I thought needed improvement:
-The Celebrity Brain Drain segment. I think it was a test, and I would be really surprised if it showed up next week. The joke kinda died on the vine.
-Editing. I still see some segments that could be edited a little tighter, but then that would require more content. (Maybe give them a chance to bring back the "Cool Wall?")
-The Spinning bit seemed very tacked on. It seemed like there could have been more to it that maybe got cut? It was just like "Here's James May with some Hooligans, it's so wacky.."
-Seriously, lose the Goatee Hammond. It's not 2002 anymore.
Probably the most frustrating thing for me, was knowning that one of those E30's used in the Spinning could very well have been a 333i or 325iS Evo's.. Both models that are next to unobtanium now. :(Leave a comment:

Finally got through Episode 2. Here's what I remember:
Watching Clarkson's drawn-out death scene was pretty okay. I don't mind watching him die. Slowly.
They brought in a South African home-made Mercedes race car, and didn't even pop the hood (?!).
They spent more time sitting around a table blabbing about stuff I've already forgotten.
Clarkson called an Aston Martin with flappy paddles, roll cage, giant wing, and swathed in carbon fiber: "Old Time Rock-n-Roll." He left it in neutral and was surprised that it rolled backward with his foot off the brake.
Here's the real Mike Skinner from a few years back:
Not such a redneck, huh? He's from California, BTW.
The e30 segment was unfortunate.
My opinion is that they've simply aged themselves out of really fun, enthusiastic car activities and reviews. Years of wealth, entitlement, and comfort will accelerate the process. Think Baby Boomers. I'm Gen-X, and I already feel it happening to me...
I think this is the best that the trio has to offer, as they're trying to attract viewers. I predict you'll be viewing more of the same type of content.
Agree that the new Top Gear will be more refined and more appreciated.Last edited by Nader393; 11-29-2016, 05:41 AM.Leave a comment:
