This alpine car sounds like a good deal to me, I know prices are lower in the states for e28's and they sold a ton here but still, prices are creeping up for good examples

even 520i's like mine in very good shape sell for 5-7k euro, 528's for up to 10 or more and m5's are up at around 50-70k nowadays..535's are very rare here and don't come up for sale much, more so in Germany.Everyone is starting to realize they are great cars and more affordable then e30's. Especially since almost everyone is asking stupid money for e30's..

There will be other great e28 for sale and since the market demand and value is lower in the states maybe the best option is just to wait and bump into a gem..

I find it hard to believe, but have heard if the auto is in great shape could possibly even cover the cost of a manual swap as they are more rare than manuals in e28s and are bullet proof. Again, if that is true, its literally the only time its ever been true.

That does seem like a lot of money for an e28. I mean I get that the low mileage one is maybe worth that, but it's not going to be worth anything more in the future if you, you know... drive it. I don't see those increasing in value at all.

If you want to spend that much on an e28, I would buy this:

At least your paying for the parts/build and your usage won't cause as much depreciation

I must say that I kind of hate e28's though, they feel like super heavy e30's with terrible steering or kind of light e34's that aren't nearly as comfortable. Everything that the e28 does better than the e30 is better in the e34. For $13k buy an e34 m5 IMO

Cool. He bought the stang killer. Thats what the auto 535is is called. They are known for their ability to stomp mustangs and camaros. (Well, 90s and older stangs and camaros, not sure on new ones)

I haven't sent money but came to terms. Its all contingent on what the photos I requested look like. Lmao at the guy recommending I buy that 535i "m5 clone" lol. Seller got clowned so badly on mye28 that he changed the title of the sale..... have you driven a 535is? That is straight up misinformation. 535is drives and handles very similar to the e30. Driving one is what sold me on it. They weigh all of 200 pounds more than a e30 and has a m30 in it.. smh..

also confused at the "depreciation"... I am spending under 8k on the car... is that an "investment"? I swear you guys... come on...

100 bucks says he drove a 528e and made his conclusions.

I don't care what the name of his thread is... A 3.7L m30 with a 3.8 crank is big money, probably makes good power too. I have driven many 535is's, I've owned 4 e28's, it's not really misinformation... Its just like, my opinion, man. The steering on an e28 is recirculating ball, no steering rack like the e30, makes a pretty big difference. In my experience they weigh about 400# more than an e30 and the m30b34 makes only ~ 15hp more than an m20 car.

you've owned four e28s and hate them!? I get the impression people around here are abrasive for sport. I don't really understand that.

someone was once quoted saying, "this is r3v, check your vag at the door"

that said, I do think the one Jb325 linked is definitely one that would be on my list. A M30 in stock form isnt bad, but modified is something else. To each his own though, I love the Euro look on the E28. That one is also close enough to drive it and make your own impression.

Ive never driven or owned one, but I did own a E34 M5 and replaced it with an eta. Get what makes you happy, I was when I replaced the E34 with the almost 90whp eta

well see I wasn't notified to check my vagina. wtf. I've been crying and eating chocolate since he dissed e28s....

It's the blue needles and racing dynamics badge that you can't resist right? matches the comfort seats in that race car.

That's not quite right. This is r3v, and we like vaginas, as long as they aren't sandy like yours.

Pretty sure you're trolling anyway with your damn near indecipherable posts and E28 talk on an E30 forum.

OP while I'm sure you are a great guy, sentence structure and punctuation go a long way in a first post.

As far as which one should you pick... I would go for a late model e24 over an e28 any day. A 1989 635csi to be exact. Black on black.

not my first post. while admittedly i am not an english major, I thought my sentence structure was at least passable for the gear head savages that are r3v.
