I'm looking at getting into an e30 325is or 325i coupe. I want to either buy the car to enjoy it or buy it with the hopes of reselling it and making some money. I previously had a blobeye wrx but I recently totaled it :(. The two cars I'm looking at are both facelift models with 5 speeds. I'll see if i can attach some pics.
the high miles yet very clean 325is supposedly has no issues and pretty much no rust. Although the person knew very little about e30s so take that with a grain of salt. The car has 254,000 miles.
the other car on the other hand odo had stopped at 160,000 and has a salvage title
aswell, the owner said it had these problems:
Struggles with cold start but once started and warmed up runs and drives fine
Original suspension, loose feeling but nothing broken still drives everyday
Driver seat reclining bracket broken but still drivable (shown in photo)
Only the 2 rust spots (shown in photo)
Leaks oil from front cam seal
Speedo and odo not working but every other gauge works
I've always wanted an e30 and I could get the 325is for about 2,500 or the white coupe for about 1,900. Are those good prices? Or should I a man with no mechanical experience just call it quits? I also work in an auto-shop however, so I can get parts cheap and may have certain resources to do autowork, I still however do not have any experience. Thanks!
To sum it up I'm wondering what a fair price for those cars is and if the work to maintain them or get them running right is out of my league or feasible.
