Hey after you get your ticket are you supposed to get anything in the mail?

i read that you do...... cause i cant read jack shit on the ticket and he scribbles half the things out whn i got my tickets....and now im waiting for somthing to come in the mail telling me what im supposed to do?

Usually you recive a "Coutesy Notice" in the mail. Even if you don't recive one in the mail, you are still required to appear in court by the date specified on the back of the ticket.
Not recieving the courtesy notice is not a valid excuse for not appearing in court.

Remember signing the bottom of the ticket? What you just signed was a "promise to appear".

ever since i bought mine, i haven't had a single speeding ticket in either of my E30s. with the bike, i stay doing 150+ and no tickets. its easy, if you pass one at that speed, keep going and catch a not so obvious exit. :cheers:

Youre V1 wouldnt have gone off if he had his radar on and was just pacing you, as he said he had been following you for about the exact distance it is required legally to gauge your speed. Its not too late because you just got the ticket. You can beat this ticket, and not by going to court. You can ask for a trial by written declaration and fight it by mail. They dont tell you this because its too convenient. First of all the judge is RARELY going to go against the pigs word in court in front of people no matter how strong your case is, and sencondly the pig has to send in his version without ANY overtime pay (which they get when they show up to court) and have to write their version on their own time, also with all the tickets they write, it will be more difficult for them to remember your specific case, in turn when you show up in court, its tough for them to forget a face when they see it. There are MANY mroe reasons for doing this which I wont go into right now, but Ive gotten my brother off of 4 tickets like this and myself off of 3. It does work. And if they dont send anything back to the judge and you do....no matter if all you write is "Im not guilty" then the case is dismissed and you get your bail back and youre let off. True story, its happened.

What he said.... the "courtesy notice" may or may not be sent, its not required which basically lets the court off of the hook if they dont send it. Unlike you which should send everything ceritifed mail and even then if they "dont get it" youre fucked. The burden is on you the whole way to prove everything along with your innocence. That innocent until proven guilty jazz is a nice idea, but it doesnt exist in this country. Nice idea though. I hope this is not what they spread when they talk about :spreading democracy and justice" to countries that never asked for it in the first place. haha. But I digress.

Exactly what they expect. More revenue for the city. You wouldnt believe the amount of falsely given tickets. I would know on this one. They expect people to take the word of the policeman as god and just go to court, avoid the hassle and pay the fine, without ever regarding the validity of the ticket. This is fact. Its a racket like any other including religion. I can give many examples. If people knew their rights, it would be a different story and its not cool to just conform and "pay the fine". Bullshit. Im not a radical, but I always question authority and the way things are being dealt with, especially when its me getting fucked. Now if youre going 90, thats something you need to work on, but if the ticket was given falsely, no matter how fast you are going, it should be dismissed, just like drug users getting let off the hook because the police found the evidence in an illegal manner. Rule of law and due process are what made this country survive so long and be a beacon of freedom. If we dont have that, then were all just lemmings under the iron fist (a bit exagerrated but you get the point). C'mon man, youre older you should know this. Or am I just a left wing nut??? ;) Please dont take my comments badly. Im just very passsionate about just rolling over and letting them shaft you.. cuz you better damn bet that they wont roll over and let you shaft them given the chance. If you get caught coming around a bit of a bend where the upper part of tire can be seen by the radar gun, or if your wheels are just nice and wide, there is a change that you can be clocked high. The top part of your wheel moves at twice the velocity of your car relative to the road just as the middle part of your wheel moves at the same velocity as the car and the bottom of the wheel has zero velocity relative to the road (otherwise you'd be sliding).

As far as you're concerned the radar gun might have caught the top half of the exposed wheel...that's the ONLY explanation you were clocked at that speed... Don't tell the cop this, save it for the judge.

this is a valid arguement, as my dynamics prof has got out of several tickets with this arguement.

Definately fight the ticket. My plan is that I always ask for a reduction. They drop the ticket down to parking on the sidewalk or something which equals no points and no insurance mark up. They make a little cash, you save some as well. Its win win. I'm 4 for 4 using this method. Ive found that usually the judge cuts you a break as long as you look like a stand up guy. Most of the other characters in court are there for worse reasons than speeding.

yes, and if you gert ruled against, "in the interests of justice" you can always ask for a bail reduction and chance to go to traffic school even though you have gone in the past 18 months. You can ask for a 12 hour traffic school, instead of 8 hour.
