As explained to me by the dealer techs, its because they are making the cars as light as possible in order to achieve better gas mileage. These cars are designed to be good for like 10 years then they are just going to be junk. They have sacraficed build quality for gas mileage and other short term benefits.

Very true. It seems like now-a-days companies make stuff to break in 2-3 years to get more money on maintenance/repairs

I haven't read your other threads. But do you own any tools or a jack and jack stands? Have you done any sort of DIY stuff in the past?

The best decision you've made thus far is to join a forum. If I were in your shoes, I'd take this shitty experience as a learning opportunity and get wrenching. At the very least have a look for yourself to asses the damage and take pictures.

Just throwing this out there. Instead of paying $1200 for a new oil pan could you just get the current one welded if it's just a small crack?

$1200 for the oil pan, and 4k if i wanted a new rack, but that obviously isn't an option so, if I can find a used one (that actually works unlike the one i just put in) it would be the cost of the used rack. $450-750 and the install cost, $380.

Watch it only need a new subframe and some plastic splash shields. Dealer techs are known to blow things out of proportion.

If OP is 16, then probably not haha.

I have been reading through R3V, Bimmerforums, e30 tech, etc. Since I was 14, I loved reading through build threads and reading about swaps, turbo kits, drift builds anything and everything i could read about e30's. I was just accessing all the sites through google by searching things like "e30 swap" or whatever i wanted to read that day. I joined on 5/31/16 a year ago tomorrow. I would have been almost 15 and 1/2. Bought my E30 last July 6 months before i could even get my license.

Sure! Assuming there is nobody else to make that claim. Let's give it a few days and see.
