Ok check it out. How long from start to finish to swap out my M20 and swap in an M50? Assuming everything goes damn near perfect itll still take a day to pull the m20 and prep the engine bay. Then i have to swap the trans, clutch, etc onto the M50 and drop that in and wire it all up. Im going to guess itll take more than 2 days eh? I have NO way to get anywhere without my car. GET IT? Basically im just getting the DD untill i can get the 325i reliable. Then once i have the M50 in and the 5 lug ill ditch the honda and drive my car as a DD because by then my G/F will have a car. So, with out furthur delay the search will commence.
Brian
Unless someone wants to help me gather up all the parts for an M50 in the next two months and then swap it in SUPER quick. Im up for that also.

And as for your statement about not having the car...
Think about it this way.
Save the $$ you'd spend on Gas, Insurance, Registration, Upkeep on this alleged DD.
Now continue to amass your M50 swap parts and 5 lug if you want to do both...
Now, when you have it allll ready to go, check this idea....

No offense Brian, but your logic on these types of things is often confusing... Kind of like how you've posted almost a thread a month asking about M50 swaps and pro's cons' info etc....
Not trying to flame you, just giving an outside view.
CLBelow the radar...

We could make a group thing out of it, BUT id need somone with some experiance also.
Brian
P.S. TO those with M/S50 swaps. What can be done out of the car before the actual swap. All tune up stuff, the oil pan and dipstick. is a no brainer But like the
Brake booster mod
adapter harness
What else. How could i prep my car and still have it run totally normal?

I'm recomending a 20 year old BMW as a DD.
I've driven a 300k mile 84' 318i for over 2 years and 35,000 miles. Zero problems.
My next E30 was a 89' 325is with 160k. Zero problems.
My next E30 was a 89' 325i 4 door with 230k miles on it when I sold it. Zero problems and was tracked, auto-x, and canyon carved weekly.
My current DD is a 20 year old 325e I got for 950.00 bucks with 107k miles. What's wrong with it??? I've spent nothing on parts yet besides a few precautionary fuel hoses and coolant hoses and I did the front rotors. I would drive the car to vegas in the summer without thinking twice.
Total cost was 200.00 dollars in parts plus the 950.00 for the car = 1150.00 for a cheap reliable daily driven BMW.
A mid 90 civic in good condition will cost you 5k-7k here in Socal depending on the trim/mileage/year.
So we have here a under <2 thousand dollar BMW that has cheaper parts, is cheaper to insure, easier to drive in traffic, safer, is RWD, is stolen much less.
Or we have a 5>7k thousand dollar Honda Civic that has more expensive parts, is much more expensive to insure, harder to drive in traffic, not as safe, is FWD, is stolen very easily here in Socal.
I'm not saying the Civic is bad. Honda makes some of the best cars in the world. But for a cheap DD, its hard to ignore a 325e for its many good virtues.
What was that about a 20 year old DD again?????
