unless the US senators are campaigning in Canada this year it has nothing to do with a looming election because our prices have dropped dramatically too FYI.

Providing nothing that changes the current trend in the market it wont stop any time soon. Im sure something that will happen that will make people buy up refined stock or they will close refineries.Im now E30less.

This is what I heard as well, makes sense to me :) Perfect combination of things, $2 anybody?Actually growth as declined and there is a building surplus of US crude. Couple that with a pretty large field discovered in the gulf and a pratically non-existant hurricane season and the speculators are looking to unload.
Also fuel blends are less stringently controlled in winter because of the reduced humidity/smog and vapor loss.
All those factors have a hell of a lot more to do with gas prices than Bush, but given the age of most members here its not a shocker that bush is a target.Comment

You forget to mention their record profits last quarter.
This whole oil thing is strictly political. Notice how the pipeline in Alaska shut down and prices still manage to drop, I find that kind of odd. Oil companies gouge prices depending on the political climate. I can almost guarantee that once the elections are over in November prices will begin to rise again.Comment

Don't forget about the record low price last year - just before the biggest retail sales weekend and the biggest travel weekend of the year.
Funny how the price dropped so low during that Thanksgiving weekend, but then shot back up immediately after the crucial retail sales weekend was over.
