Why the hell would anyone move to Florida? I lived there for four years and could not wait to get out. My friend was so excited to have an expedite closing on his house in Tampa one week before the hurricane hit. He is now looking at @ $14k in damage.

Sounds like he was lucky compared to the total loss people.
Florida always seemed to me that the state itself (along with mother nature) was trying to tell people they shouldn't be living there.

Absolutely!
I have only been there a couple three times, and always may to September, but the temperature and humidity there is terribly uncomfortable to me. The brutal heat and dampness/humidity. It would be like living on a fat guys taint.

I've read some articles recently about the history of human habitation in Florida and it has been branded as "uninhabitable" for 150yrs. Someone woke up one day and decided to change that but it's still uninhabitable IMO. I bought this place to care for my mom 17 yrs ago. She's gone but long story short is the place is more complicated to sell than to keep so we are here.
The good news is, it's a great place to spend the winter
Glad to see you made it through alright! I am a few miles south of you, and like you, didn't have any significant damage. We dodged a bullet there! Out of curiosity, are you going to Spectober Fest at Sebring? Would be cool to meet up with some of the other e30 guys from the area.

Glad you're okay Jeff. Sounds like you've been living relatively "off the grid" the past few days - counting your watts and amperage. It's a liberating experience! Welcome to the south!!
