Hey guys. Past couple of days I have been hearing a popping from the right rear of the car. when I am turning right and accelerating it is really loud. Also @ highway speeds my shifter is shaking. Blown axel? Help me out. Thanks.

BMWs never have axle problems. I'm talking 99.99999% chance its a wheel bearing or the differential before it's the axle.

that's not true. if your CV boots tear or rip open and your CV joints get dirty or overheat, they can go bad. they can also go bad from being stressed or operated at funny angles.Comment

about a year ago on the high way coming off of an on ramp some how my fricking axle got bent and ripped right from the differential my right rear axleComment

a trick that i learned from a german is to lift the car up off the ground on both sides and start it up and run it in gear for a while. He told me that especially when the car is lowered the grease tends to fly out of the joint, because of the angle like some of you said. I tried this and it worked on my car. It is a very cheap way to fix it(costs nothing) and a very easy starting place. If not that I would say a cv joint has failed if its making a clicking sound. I have blown a couple of half shafts apart doing hole shots, the cars dont seem to like that kinda abuse too much!Comment

Are you saying that just running it in gear, jacked up may fix the problem?
How does that help?

i think he's trying to say that if it's lowered that the grease may not be right were it should be so raise the rear of the car and put it in gear and let it run awhile to get the grease somewheres back to normal
could be it but i'm doubtful
