I think in like 1990 or 89 the 4 door 325i was lighter than the 2 doors, no lie. The one before airbags came.

I wouldn't find that hard to believe. The doors on my 85 2 door felt way more solid than the ones on my 90 4 doors'. The 4 door however is slightly stiffer due to the B pillar.

having four doors on an e30 is like having a touring wing on a civic.

Just out of curiosity, is there any noticeable difference in body stiffness between 2 and 4 doors?

I don't have any E30 figures on this, but for the E36 and E46 the overall rigidity of the four door was higher than the two door. I would guesstimate that the four door E30 would be slightly stiffer overall than the two door.

One thing for all you tall drivers out there to think about-I had not sat in a four door E30 since driving my sister's just bought new '86 325. Back then, I was still about four inches shorter in height, but now at 6'8" the four door with the standard seats will not give me hardly any leg or headroom at all-there is no way I could drive one! For very tall people as myself, a two door with height-adjustable sport seats is just about the only option. Sure you can put a sport seat in the four door, but to get enough room the seatback will be so reclined that your head will be positioned behind the B pillar-making you look like you are driving from the back seat.

I'll stick with the two doors, thanks.

Yes, a 4dr is a bit stiffer because of the extra pillar
                          The weight difference is minimal
                          The dimensions are the same
It is also easier to fit a cage in a 4dr
In WTCC, BMW only races 4dr

the 2 door is actually a little heavier than the 4drs....but like 10 or 11lbs its the same way on the e36 coupes and sedans

wtf, at 6'8 you're legitimately a freak, so your statement is ERRONEOUS.

I've got a coupe and a sedan. Personally I think the coupe looks a little better, but i'm rebuilding the 4 door for ease of carrying people.
