I was rear ended in my e46 wagon the other day by what turned out to be an uninsured driver. My insurance is trying to value my car at $2500 and total it over a bumper cover and tailgate. I have tried showing them that a manual trans e46 wagon is worth far more than that on the market, but they still want to total it. So I am stuck paying out of pocket. As e30s are also worth much more than the insurance value has anyone found an insurance company that understands that?
What insurance do you use?

I have Hagerty. The crucial thing is that you have an “agreed amount” or “guaranteed replacement value” policy form as opposed to actual cash value. That way you just choose the appropriate limit. (Source: I’m a commercial insurance broker).

They all have limits although mileage is typically a soft limit and you def can't DD them. They all want a locked garage and a newer DD (they define this differently) for each licensed driver in the house. The trade off is cheap rates and a friendlier settlement if/when you have a claim.
I'm also not a believer that any of them will pay whatever value you tell them. These guys do know the market so will provide higher coverage amounts BUT I am still yet to hear of any Classic insurer paying a stupid amount just cause you said that's the value. IMO every insurer goes by "market value" on dated cars...just that the Classic insurers get this market, whereas the regular companies are more likely to bust your chops.Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. I have state farm and even though my car looks like crap and I thought it wasn't worth a lot, the value before totaling it is like 3k. the body shop guy was really surprised when we ran up some numbers just to see what the car was allowed.
I found out when someone hit my last year and spun my on the road and than they ran. luckily my car has metal bumpers and a tow hitch because a plastic bumper would have been done.Comment

lol. actually, I think it was 168.00 to be exact. its supposed to be in a locked garage, not supposed to drive it to work. must have another car as a daily driver. I actually am not sure about the mileage. they never asked what was on the odometer and there was nothing that I had to sign stating that I would stay within X miles/year or less. I am sure there is something in the policy and declarations about this but I think its a rather mute point.
the stated value I put in the car was 11k. I did have to send a small pile of photos. the agent I talked to suggested taking a pic of the car in front of its open garage so they will know where it is supposedly parked.
thats about all the details I can think of.
I asked if it was possible to insure all of our cars with them....they said sure....just as long as there is a combined value of 100k. oh well....sigpic

I use Geico because of the price in my area. 5 vehicles full coverage for $210/mo with stated values. My 86 325e was t boned and USAA assessed it at $3250 and I gladly took the check. I had purchased the vehicle from a friend for $700 and fixed it up on the cheap and used it as a daily.
My 90 325i I have a stated value of $6500.
My other 3 vehicles are: 89 rx7 convertible, 91 rx7 convertible, and 2016 Scion iM all with full coverage as well.————(OO≣[][]≣OO)————
