In free VIN decoders you will not find the full history of the car, but there is a free BMW VIN Decoder can tell whether the car was sold on auctions or not: https://vinsonar.com/vin-decoder/bmw. For some VIN's I’ve checked, there were photos from Copart - a good way to check for auction listings for free.

There are VIN check websites with detailed information about dealership repairs.
But they probably are not applicable to the E30 as they rarely visit dealerships.
