The DOHC VANOS decal is really lame...really lame.

I know you can do better than that.

The DOHC VANOS sticker is staying. A friend of mine came up with the idea and made a bunch of sets---we like them. It's a joke. It's a car. Don't sound so serious about hating them. :P

The car is more-or-less insane from about 3500 on, and it pulls hard (more than enough passing power) between 2500 and 3500. Driving it right now is a major tease. I can only turn it 4K, and the torque peak is about 4500. Not to mention the power/torque that is not yet had because of the intake, injectors, break-in, exhaust (or lack thereof), etc.

I dropped it off at Motorsport Connections a while ago, and should get the car back in a few hours, with a 3" straight pipe with a 3" resonator and a 3" straight-through Dynomax muffler.

Looking forward to gettting it back, going to do a LOT of driving today :P

Stu, if you're going to leave the DOHC VANOS sticker, you might want to take off the 316d badge. Kind of defeats the purpose of downbadging to advertise that you have a VANOS engine under the hood.

Great!! You NEED MORE RUBBER ON THERE!!!

Watch out with all that new HP, the right foot may get the best of you! Just keep it shinny side up and watch out for trees!

Josh---you're typical BMW owner doesn't know what VANOS is :)

Mike---I talked with a club racer this morning (the one doing my exhaust) about tires. I asked him what he recommended as far as sizing (i have 225/50/15 right now). He recommended a 215 or 225 would work perfectly, and that one of the biggest mistakes people make is putting too much rubber on the car. He says you want just enough to have good braking, good setting up of the car for a corner, and no wheelspin on a perfectly lined up exit. I'll see how the 225's do for now.

I'm with you on the VANOS!

Anyway, my point is, you now have GOBS of torque, you are used to not having it. So you hit your normal fun roads, and dip the throttle like you are USED TO, what happens? The ass comes out FAST, and you hit something. I know you can drive, it's just when you are in something familiar you tend to forget how different it really is.

I do agree about the over tire on cars. But I do think you should have a bit more then a 215 on there, 225 is ok, but you are better off with 235. I think you will have wheel-spin in 3rd!

I like the DOHC VANOS sticker...it's small, understated, good color, and accurate. I don't see the problem.
