      haha I wish...

I did driving school at skip barber... I think they insisted on double declutching to avoid half the class (eg: my half of the class) money shifting the cars before lunch...

they have crashboxes in the school cars.

1942 Willy's crash box - you must double clutch up and down. It's my weekend 4x4 toy so had to learn, now I do it on all my vehicles to keep in practice.

There is reason to double clutch on the up shift too. Think about the mechanics of it. The clutch disc is attached to the spline on the gearbox and so if you are accelerating and you depress the clutch pedal, resistance on the motor slows the motor and thus bothe the flywheel and pressure plate down from say 6000rpm to around 1000 or so rpm (1/6th the speed) But the box is still in gear and the wheels are still turning, so the clutch disc and gearbox gears are still spinning at 6000rpm.

You put the box in neutral and as there is not much friction to slow it down it only slows a little bit. If you swap gears now they are moving at the wrong speed for the next gear. BUT if you let the clutch out whilst in neutral, and then rev-match for the next change, the spline is now turning the input gear at the correct speed for the next output gear and so when you quickly press the clutch again then select that gear and let the clutch out you are saving wear on your box - necessary in a crash box.

So, yeah, same reason as on the down shift really, just not as necessary - but still beneficial!

Wtf does SNS have to with heal toe? Heal toe is the best thing ever. Your can minimize the distance of breaking before a corner. Because all that time you would waste shifting and not brakeing, you could be accelrating then brakeing and downshifting @ the same time.

I represent sns 70 mph sideways while throwing up a shocker outta the window!

lol This IS and old thread. I can't even remember not being able to heel toe. Now I practically can't not do it. It's just instinct. I rev-match every downshift, even around town.

why double clutch when you can revmatch?

Don't blame small feet, half of those pro japanese drifters have like size 7 feet and they can do it.

I double clutch up and down all day on our old trucks (10 speed) but our new kenworth you dont have to double clutch up, only down.

BTW, if your trying to heel toe to drive faster, if you can't do it at the limit of braking adhesion, you can't do it. I see idiots all day who can do it fine, but only while barely pressing the brakes.

lol I've locked my brakes up while heel toeing. Guy pulls right out in front of me. I drop anchor and rev-match just from instinct, even though all four tires are locking up and the back is starting to turn round.
