      2. i think this might be a throwback to the italian market 320is which, as you all know, had the s14b20 motor, a true baby m3
      3. agreed with the "large car with underpowered 4banger"

i was comparing late 90's honda's to a 2007 bmw motor. the Type R 1.8L is 200cc smaller yet makes 22 more horsepower and nearly the same torque.

Variable valve timing isn't allowed in WTCC. Neither is variable intake geometry, ABS, or traction control. Engines are limited to 2000cc, hence the 320si. This car is a homologation special.

Sorry if I'm repeating anything that may have been in the video; it stopped playing about 10 seconds in.

Although I tend to agree with the high weight, low HP figures, you can't forget that BMW motors always win due to their fat torque curve. (even on the 4s)

Bmw motors have never been impressive HP wise.

Now ptownsi, please stop with the ricermath.

On the note of the 318is.. it was only dull in the USA because you guys got the dual mass flywheel, which kills it, in europe, it's an awesome car.

It's ricer math purely because HP is just a number.... being able to put down all that HP efficiently is what counts.

By your rationale, if cars were bought from thinking how much HP/$, Porsche would have been bankrupt for years. Yet the 911 laps cars with higher HP with no problem.

And no FWD will ever put down all it's power efficiently. Having to share steering and power on the same axle will always compromise on traction.

It has so much grip because there isn't enough power to be worried about losing traction :P
