He didn't do anything to the actual roundel... just everything that its attached to.

thats been the international slogan for years, BMWUSA is still the Ultimate Driving Machine.

btw i think the 2.0L I-4 is still an evolution of the M42. i know the the recent 318's with 2.0L's have been M44's.

Thank god, I was worried for a second. I definately prefer "The Ultimate Driving Machine" over the other slogan. It just sounds a lot more aggresive, ya know?

By the way - I think the 1 Series looks pretty cool. I won't past judgement until I get to see it in person though, so time will tell. 8)

Doubtful..... and the car is going to be some rice....

I mean come on.... their 2.0 barely outpowers the e30's m42. The 1 series wont be a car to mod.

                Just like an M42 e30.

These motors are designed for smoothness & fuel economy, they deliver on both those tasks. It honestly looks like the diesel is going to be the "hot" version of that car for the time being, with ~170 hp & 200 ft lbs.

                Decent review of the car:

The base/entry model starts at $28k. A bit high for the 1.6 in my opinion.

                      Woah - damn.

I was hoping they'd be priced in the lower 20s.

                        INTRODUCING THE NEW BMW MATRIX...
                        huh it's not a matrix?
                        Well what is it?
Uh huh, uh hu, yeah. Oh a four cylinder with only 150 ponies. And four doors. How much does it cost?

Wow, let me be the first to request mine with drum brakes and a cassete deck! Giddy-up

You're figureing in a VAT-enhanced Euro there. That's gonna be rather expensive. BMW had mentioned their target price for this car, if it saw US release to be in the 24-26k range, slightly above the Cooper S.

"So this is our 1 Series.... For an extra $2k, you get the performance package, with a 2.5l engine and a 3 series badge"
