well link to the one FS and i didnt say they dont exist in the states, i just said you hadn't been in one because you didn't strike me as the type of kid who would have affluent enough friends that could import a real EVO II into the states. Now you say it was a friend of a friends... ok, i buy it
where the hell did that come from?
First off Im not a kid... Second, how can i strike you as anyone. I dont even know who you are. Third of all, how the hell do you know how much money my friends or I have... or anyone else on this forum for that matter.
Go back to your mercedes forum and drool over your 4door sedan with a huge wing and, as far as I know, the only touring car ever with a hood ornament.
here is a little history lesson to share with your buddys. The 190e evo was first designed to be a homologation special to compete in GroupB rally events. This was about the same time audi was getting ready to release the S1. Mercedes engineers thought that the weight of the quattro system would handicap the car more than help so they continued to develop the 190 to rally. It was ready shortly after audi released the s1 and instantly made all rear wheel drive cars in rally events obsolete. Fearing embarasement a crash program was put in to turn the 190 into a touring car. Right before it was ready to release it as a touring car BMW released the e30 M3, the winningest touring car ever, as its direct competition. The M3 was so far ahead that it was beating factory backed mercedes teams a year after(1992) BMW Motorsport stopped developement on the e30 M3 to focus on the e36. Now that is some bad luck...

Just a small fact so I seem impartial. In 1992 the E30///M3 did win a few races, but the 190's won the overall championship quite convincingly. But the fact that the E30 ///M3 was winning ANY races in its 6th year (more than a lifetime in any pro racing, let alone highly competitive German Touring Car terms) is a marvel of its engineering. Im not pissing in anyones pocket, I just wanted to straighten it out for eveyones info.

If you had bothered to do any research before you talked, you would know that the EVO models had massively tubbed fender wells to accommodate the wider wheels and lower suspension. Even the 16v models had rolled fenders beneath the 16v fender flares. The body kits purpose was purely aerodynamics.
Exactly my point. They used hot rodder techniques and modified an existing panel instead designing an entirely new piece. Ok for a race car but cheesy for a high dollar production car.

I just found this thread. is he gone? I don't understand why the hate? I like 190e's. I love e30s.
If I were freud, I think I would diagnose that he feels the need to make e30 owners feel inferior to the 190e because he feels it is the only way to be triumphant. Much like a bully will, because of his disappointment or dissatisfaction in himself, make fun of other people; try to bring them down to his level. Perhaps his father was a drunk, or he was picked on in school. Maybe one kid, who just happened to own a BMW, used to make fun of his bicycle back in high school. Whatever the case, the childhood traumas are making their appearance.
Is this the case? I don't think there are any other possibilities. :D
I like both, and would take the 190 if I wanted a bigger car. The 16v and the e30m3 are very close in performance imho, other than the e30 being smaller and lighter. They competed back to back in the early 90s in DTM, they were direct rivals for years.... I don't like the new MB cars (driven a couple, amg model included), but I do like the older ones, I have to say they do look classy and more elegant or timeless compared to a typical e30, too bad most of them come with an auto.
