    Your fuel gauge light work?

I've never had my fuel gauge light come on, so just yesterday I decided to wait until the needle was officially right in the red and it still never came on. You think the bulb just needs to be replaced? Or does it go farther than that before it comes on? I've never seen it on before, but I also never wait till it's less than 1/4.

It works on both my cars. Only when I have been really broke to I ever let it get that far..

Ive noticed on 2 of my 3 e30s that I really have to drive in the red for a long time (50 miles in my 318) before the light comes on, and even then I can go for at least 50 more. I actually got 430 miles on a tank coming home from school during some desperate times.

Carry around a 2 gallon can of gas till your car runs out. Then youll know if the light works, plus just how far you can push it.

Yes, mine is on now and there is about 5 gallons worth of gas in the tank

Yes the gauge has to be down low for a bit before it comes on.

The light works on all of my cars.

Mine comes on after I hit the red and drive about 20 miles, or if the car in red and on a grade. :)

I've seen it twice this month :(

                            ditto.

Do you consistantly run the car dry?? This also contributes to killing the fuel pump prematurely (running it dry).

Mine works. It usually is in the red for a while before it lights up. I have the OBC that tells you how many miles you have left and if i remember correctly it's not ususally until there's like under 30 miles left that mine comes on.
