Disclaimer: i already know i am a fucking idiot, no need to reiterate it. i am just telling you this so nobody fucks up like i did.
alright, last night, cruising to my buddies house. i was following behind him and we get to the street before the one his house his on. halfway down the street my radio cuts off for 2 seconds. i think naturally that it is the switch we wired in and keep driving. 5 seconds later the same thing happens again. i just put it out of my mind. so i make the right hand turn and BOOM the car shuts off. i take it out of gear and let it roll becasue i know i have to push it and i want to get the extra twenty feet the energy of the car has. the whole car is dead. so my buddy i was following runs down to my car and helps me push it to his house. we get it to his house, and i immediately think of the battery, becaseu the battery light on my dash is on, which my friend told me means that my charging system isnt too great. so i open the trunk and immediately smell a very bad smell.
in between the two terminals of the battery (i dont have the battery tray on because i dont have one.) is the metal lid to the stock amp that i took out of my sentra, left at my moms house while she moved, and had her put in the trunk of my bimmer so i could take it back to my dads house and it was perfectly JAMMED under the positive terminal. the lid was black and smelled like an asshole. i took the lid out, told my buddy to grab some jumper cables, then looked into the trunk to see this....

no i dont drag my battery behind my car, the pic was taken after i took it out of the car
and the red stuff is corosion preventative shit. it wasnt from the damage
so i tell him to forget the cables, and i take the pic of it, and i purposely spill some battery acid on a weed. and today we looked at it, and it was pwned. majorly.
so anyways. i go buy a new battery and 80 some odd dollars later i put the battery in and the car starts up and runs fine.
moral of the story - dont leave random metal pieces that might somehow JAM there ass in between your battery terminals when you are driving.
have a good day.
