I ran diesel through the my Isuzu awhile back.
Cleaned up EVERYTHING. Diesel helps break up carbon deposits and generally removes sludge. It is similar to running that superclean stuff that Chrysler sells. Massive white and black smoke, hard running. You need to sit there and pretty much idle away your whole tank of gas. Wait a day. Fill it with high octane gas, and you are good to go.
But, that is just a little redneck trick I learned in a town full of diesel trucks. I would not recommend it on any of our cars. But... you never know.Originally posted by TeaguerFilling an Eta's tank with super unleaded will reach the cars maximum attainable performance level .
Aa a bonus filling the tank will also double any Eta's resale value .

but you dont want it anywhere in your head.
my dad raced a season of showroom stock and they used to bake carbon onto the pistons raise the compression. which was almost legal.
but then again showroom stock racing is all about how much you can get away with without getting caught.m106 1990 e30

My uncle put diesel in his gas truck on accident. Never even started it, siphoned as much as we could out, added a lot of gas, and then started it.
Ran like shit.
Later that diesel (my dumb cheapass uncle wanted to save it, I dunno for what) was accidentaly put into our forklift, which WAS started with the diesel. It really ran like shit.
I wouldn't try it.

808- a gas engine will run on diesel (not well but it will) But screw up the other way and it will spendy to fix the diesel LOLOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

Old school truckers used to add a little bit of gas to keep their tanks from freezing in the winter (like way up in the mountains and stuff).

we used to add gasoline to the old ass Army trucks(M35a1)-- the old skool 2.5 tons that had the motors that ran on anything(multifuel). we would run a mix of 75% kerosene, 25% gasoline, and they ran excellent, we could get about 20 miles an hour faster on the autobahn that way. No, I wouldnt add any diesel to my gas car though.
the Russians have all kindas of tricks that work "wonders" - I saw a few of em cut a 750i in half, just so they could fit it on 2 small trucks- and not have to pay importing taxes on the thing bringing it back to Russia, they were then going to weld it back together and sell it! No Bullsh*t!!

Guy at my work from Morocco said back home when motors were in trouble they'd fill em with diesel fuel.....as oil. That's right, full oil change with diesel, run it for a few minutes and drain. I'm sure everything was spotless inside but if the stuff lubricates enough to not tear up the bearings and cam and whatnot is what I'd be worried about.
Other mechanic from Algeria who has been here longer and does much less shady stuff suggests a couple oil changes with ATF, said it can solve internal problems too. Not exactly sure what it's supposed to fix to be honest, but it might clean stuff up.
Seafoam doesn't smoke too much for me, makes me sad :(

A mechanic once told me that the average consumer believes that if a little bit of a cleaner works good, then using more of it will work better. And because of this, you have engine cleaners and fuel system cleaners that are different between what the pros use and what you buy off the shelf.
I think that kerosene or diesel fuel can be used to clean out a gas engine, however, I do not know how much is actually "too much". I bought a bottle of STP fuel treatment last night and I noticed the familiar smell.. I couldnt tell if it was kero or diesel or something in between but it definately was in that family.
When I was a teenager, my friends and I used to go down to the local airport and steal gasoline and race down the runway. I am pretty sure that we were using the low lead gasoline because there weren't any jets. Everything was a single or dual-propeller plane.
Testimonies like the ones in this thread is the reason why someone needs to make a book of "auto tales" full of the stuff that we think works even though we have not tried it ourselves. Somehow if we heard some guy on the corner say it, that makes it credible.
Like with sawdust in the transmission- I heard that too and I wish I had known about that before I got rid of a parts car that came from the auction. The engine ran great but the transmission was dead.

Fuel injector cleaners (Techron, STP, etc.) are 65-90% kerosene and the rest is Stoddard Solvent (paint thinner/old time dry cleaning fluid) which is why they don't list the ingredients. Kerosene is cleaner than diesel and just a few cents more per gallon - $2.75. That much Techron is $40. Techron has some other high end solvents in very small quantities but none of the others have much else..Last edited by 1991 318is; 01-27-2007, 09:13 PM.
