You can get the performance package on either the coupe or sedan. That's why I said "How about a 330CI with performance package?"

How about if you learn to read?

IMHO, the auto tranny's is better than the freakin crap SMG.

The E46 M3 is a pretty hardcore car, I don't know if I would want one as a daily driver. Has she checked out the E92 328i and 335i? The 6-speed auto in the new cars is phenomenal.

You can get used to SMG and it drives fine after that, I've talked to lots of people who own them.

As stated prior we DON'T want new.

Well, I suppose its a personal preference thing. I've driven plenty of SMG cars, and I would take a torque converter auto any day of the week. Have you driven one?

How are e46 M3s all that uncommon?

I see them a helluva lot more often than I see other e30s.

Yes, I agree, the 6 speed auto in the new 335i is simply awesome. I would have to think long and hard over auto or manual, it shifts so fast and so smooth.

The E46 M3 is supposed to get a valve adjust every 15k miles. Not sure if it really needs it that often. But the valve adjust done at the dealer is over $1,000 I was told, actually close to $1,500.

Strictly BMW in Bellevue told me that they have yet to do a valve adjust on an E46 M3 because when the customers hear the cost, the opt not to do it.

One of the owners of Griots Garage opted for the E46 M3 SMG package even though he's a total car guy because he has the killer commute over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and all the 1-2-1-2- shifting in his old stick shift BMW was beginning to hurt his back.
