        BCMike has it down. Ive use those things to raise bimmers way bigger/heavier than the E30 and never had a problem.

          I dont trust it at all. If your on any slope, it can tip over really easily.

            I have never had a problem jacking the car in the correct locations. Worked for me every time. I use mine all the time.

              The E30 factory jack is one of the best factory jacks made. It is one of the fastest factory jacks put in any car. The manufacturer even has specific points on the car that the jacks arm fits perfecty in. The jack mechanism is one of the easiest and fastest ways to raise a jack as well. Have you ever tried using a scissor jack with a 2 piece lug wrench that isn't attached to the actual jack.
              I am not saying that I would use this instead of my 2 aluminum race jacks in my garage along with jack stands, but for changing a tire on the side of the road you can not get a better factory jack.

                I have to use mine to jack my car up, or I can't get my floor jack under the front end.

                  One thing that I can say about this type of jack is that it is very foregiving in instances where you don't set the brake or properly chock the opposite corner wheel.. (yeah.. thats what that little black steel triangle is for), and it will work on just about any surface. I once jacked up my E30 on sand (don't ask) by laying a board underneath the jack and it worked fine.

                  When you position the jack under the car, you have to let it rest on the 45 degree angle part of the foot. At the point that the lifting part of the jack comes in contact with the car, the foot of the jack should be resting squarely on the slanted part of the foot before you start going up with it.

                  Sometimes the car will shift forwards or backwards regardless of how well you chock the wheels. And once you bring the jack back down and up again, it works great. I admit that turning that crank gets to be a bit tedious so when I need to do work in my garage I get the floor jack.

                        I have to roll onto a wedge-ended block of wood, and then get my friend's scissor jack, and then use the floor jack. I'd use my factory jack but it's not low enough at the scissor jack step.

                          Before I got a new jack I had to use the factory jack to get my car high enough to get the floor jack under the frame rail. I love my new low rise alluminum race jack.

                              yeah, it's great having the low-rise aluminum race jack, now all I need to do is use the wedge of wood and the scissor jack. no longer need to lift at the fenders with my own hands. I got the blue one from harbor freight, it's really noisy though.
