Let's face it, online petitions don't do squat. I doubt anyone in the state assembly will look at an Internet petition without laughing. If you want this off the books, handwrite (don't email, don't type) a letter to your local state assemblyman and senator and have all of your friends do the same. Then, if they reply that cities in your congressional district want the front plates so they can use red-light cameras to raise revenue, then you (and a bunch of your friends) will have to go to city hall and speak in front of the council to protest the use of cameras as a degradation to your quality of life. Then, so the council/Board of Supervisors takes you seriously, you have to come up with an alternate source of revenue to replace the cameras.
Seriously, that's what you gotta do to get noticed politically. Either that, or you know John Burton.

Why is it that everyone gets their panties in a bunch when they can't "customize" their cars with super-kool EURO gear?

And Tangent is right, some online petition isn't going to do much.
I just don't get the whole fake Euro plate thing, and why people are so protective of it. So sue me. It'd be cool if there was some story behind it, like you used to live in Europe and it was an actual plate off your car there. But I give up on understanding the importance of this idea.
Originally posted by Jarvis View PostI just think it's a little ridiculous to try and further tie up a state's already fucked up government by having to deal with a petition that suggests requiring only one license plate, so that people can legally display their fake plates for cosmetic reasons.
I'm not an expert on California's laws or politics, but I'll take an educated guess and predict that no matter how many people signed that petition, nothing will happen. Some states require 2 plates for specific reasons. I am in favor of some of those reasons.
I agree that online petitions dont do anything. But this jerkoff over here just stepped over the line in his superbly douchebaggish response.
