Doesn't really surprise me at all. Throw a 2.5 liter evo 3 motor and group n coilovers on it with hoosiers.. then it will be fun. Stock sucks.

Eh, the comparisons they make on those shows are on purely stock cars.

Everytime BMWCCA has a race here in Phoenix, the guy out front is a stockish looking E30 M3 (meaning body panel wise). It's sad when the professionally built e36's and e46's can't keep up with a 20 year old car.

BTW, since when does the value of a car have anything to do with its performance on a track?

Sure there are plenty of cars out there for similar (or less) money that could wax the E30 M3 in some performance criteria, but what those 'others' don't have is the bragging rights of being the most successful Touring Car racer of all time. That and the fact that ~5000 copies made it to US shores and probably half of them are still around since the rest have been smashed/stolen/etc. It's a car you just don't see everyday. I know of a few locally, but don't see them driven very often.

Sure, the e30 m3 is probably up there with some of the most beautiful cars of all time. But the performance? eh...for 10 to 15 k it doesnt seem like a very logical choice. I am not hating at all, I LOVE the e30 m3. This video on youtube takes away its mystical appeal tho. I mean,that delta integrale was understeering like a bitch and still won.
