Starsky to Hutch, "It's not how fast a car is, it's how quick it is!"
A 10 second street car costs a lot no matter what it is.
I have a 318is and all those cars you mention can blow it's doors off on the street and on most highways. But women like to ride in it, my three daughters (ages 20-26) think it's cool, and most of all I like it. I couldn't care less if you don't like my chrome BBS Knock-offs. 99% of the people don't even know the difference.

With a turbo M20 you can be fast for sure, you will get a lot of speed from an M50 swap with some mods, an S50/S52 swap, or an M30 swap with a couple mods. Any of these should easily tromp on your run of the mill Civic...

is there a specific e30 to buy if I don't want to swap for a while, as in could I get a 325 and keep the motor for decent performance? Or is it in my best interest to get something I plan to do a swap on? Turbo sounds fun...

i dunno whats wrong with my car but i romp on civics all day vtec or not swapped or not.. now maybe all the guys i came across couldnt drive for shit but ive never lost to a civic teg or and 4cyl whatsoever now my car isnt lightnig fast but it damn sure can get out of its own way and certainly fast enough to get me into trouble (ask me how i know). i got an '88 325is m20 with a bmp design chip that was in the car when i bought it and some bald mismatched tires with a lil bit of suspension work... no injectors no m30 afm or even a cold air set up so im basically stock.

who knows maybe i havent run into the right car yet but as far as compacts are concerned my record is whatever the number is and zero.

*would have* if I had a 325is. I tried looking, is there a thread that people posted their specs like 1/8 and 1/4 mile, 0-60, etc.? I really would like to learn as much as I can, and I'd like to know what I can expect out of an e30.
