Funny! I used to subscribe to it many years ago and I think I still have older issues, but then stopped when they had the switch and never looked at it ever again. I just get GRM, Bimmer and EVO nowdays.

I'll have to check this issue out though, does it have a good pictorial ?

It was just one editorial, with a single pic at the footer. It's the BMW PR one with the front 3/4 of a red M3, with its highbeams on, wheels spinning, and a CGI-like background. It was sold as a poster on here, common photo.

We had two 88' M3s in my family. They're a blast to drive, and still one of the best handling cars i've encountered. I disagree with the article though. They do not require constant maintanace. Actually, the cars never failed to start or get to their destination, ever. One day, i'm going to buy one and give it a turbo.

As much as I would love to have an M3, it is just never gonna happen.

I am too cheap to spring for one, unless I find a thrashed shell, then do S5* or whatever, but then it won't really be an M3, will it?

Still one of the best cars ever made.

That entire editorial was a back-handed compliment.

Gawd, ain't that the truth! I've had my M3 for 3 whole months and have had to listen to more than a few "nice body kit" comments and the like. It was nice, though, the other day driving up from Atlanta, I was stopped for gas behind a nicely modded Jetta. One of the younger (more like half my age) guys says "holy shit! A fuckin' real live M3!" Grabs his friend and explained the history to him right there in front of me. I felt like a proud papa.

I love pointing to the builder's sticker where it says Made by BMW Motorsport. The Ms haven't said that since 1991 or so....

SCC was one of the best car magazines period back in the day. Josh Coleman made that magazine the greatness it was.
