    Engine troubles.

I'm havening this problem where theres like a revlimiter kicking in around 4000 rpm. and it keeps getting worse, like its kicking in all the time, mostly when i have a load on it and I am full throttle. It seems like its a timing issue. i noticed that the orange plastic was cracked up around my crank pos. sensor so I replaced it with one that was setting around that didnt seem to be in that great of cond. but more i messed with the older c.p.s. that was on there the worse it would run. i was also thinking maybe the ecu messing with the timing, maybe its fryed somehow but i doubt that.

anybody have this issue or have some advice.

yes. but i have an ebay chip which makes it come on. thats my next step is swaping out ecu's i have a 173 laying around. and if its still on scan it see what code comes up.

well i swapped ecu's. it seem to of made it worse. the one thing i could come up with is that the other ecu isnt chipped which means there less advance and means making it run even more retarded. Or the other ecu didnt have time to learn everything. but i still believe i need to find a good c.p.s and see how it works then.

I forgot to mention how this started, i was getting on a right hand exit ramp and towards the end it started cutting out. at first i though i was starving the fuel pump, so i got out of and drove normal for a second and got back in it. but it started doing it again and just kept getting worse from there.

This may sound a bit trivial, but a bad cap and rotor caused my M3 to have a "rev limit" of 5500-6k rpm all of a sudden. Once I replaced it, all was good. Maybe check your cap and rotor just to be safe?

Exhibited symptoms similar to starving for fuel and I started noticing it under hard turning(of course at an autoX).

today i went to bring it to a local shop to see if any of the guys there could figure out whats going on. and the problem i had stopped before they could look at it. it kept getting worse and just stopped....

maybe i had water in the cap or something... or something electrical is going on the fritz

yeah have you pressure washed your engine recently ? Or had any bad rain storms that you might have driven in ? If either is so it might just be the case that there is moisture in the cap or plug wires or both or even some electrical connections. If this might be the case just start WD-40ing everything to displace any moisture there might be. It just suonds to me like what would happen when we pressure washed engines sometimes at a detail shop I use to own.
