    Just drove my buddy's S4...WOW!!

So tonight we are all sitting there drinking having a fire and i havent seen my buddy for awhile, hes been at school and last time i saw him he had a base model 2005 mustang... so we are talking and he mentions he has a 2001 twin turbo V6 audi now(S4). goes and gets it and takes me for a ride and ohh do i mean a ride...then he pulls over and says to me take it for a spin, hell yeah im already impressed and i get in. I then start pushing the thing and wow it was amazing... it wont ever take me away from a bimmer but that thing moved... i then took him for a ride in my brothers bimmer, updated with a 5 speed and 3.46 diff, and im not going to lie the S4 was quicker but not by much and even he admitted it. Well this only pushes me to save and purchase an E46 M3 but has anyone else been in an S4? what is your opinion?

A buddy of mine owns one and it was rather impressive. However please remember, its a twin turbo car. Put some twins or a single turbo for that matter that is built right on an E30 and watch it go.

My dad has one. A silver 2000 thats totally perfect. Not a dent, scratch or flaw anywhere on it. Honestly im afraid to drive it. Ive been in it and it is an exteamly quick car. He babies it though, I dought its seen much over 4500rpm. Kind of a shame.

A few of my freinds have them also(Ive got an 5 speed 2.8q B5 A4 Avant so I have some VAG owner freinds). One guy has a blue 2000 S4 intake, exhaust(turbos back), samco hoses(intake, intercooler tubing, radiator) and Giac chip. that thing flys, its well over 300hp. With the H&R coilovers and bigger sways that car really works. Ive driven that before.
It sucks Audi has such a bad wrap. Ive had 2 and everyone in my family owns Audis. Great cars if you ask me.

My dad has an 04 S4 Avant. They are blistering fast, even stock. The Audi 4.2-V8 is a great engineered motor. However with some of work those biturbos can be fast as hell. Actually, the shop there is a shop aroundthae area that has multiple S4's with around 505whp.

The model S4 you drove in really didn't impress me that much, and I don't have high standards for power. It's a 250hp car that weighs like 3800lbs...nothing too exciting. A stock E36 M3 is faster, the only reason the S4 can run 5.5 0-60 is because of the AWD.

Don't sell it short - the B5 S4s were highly/easily tunable. Especially when the OEM turbos decide to burn up....

I drove in a chipped one.

And the turbo replacement labour is like 18 hours or something gay. Fuck those cars.

I would take a newer s4 with the NA v8 over the older v6 model anyday.

I have to agree with you on this one. Although the turbos are highly tunable and can make BIG power, I'm more of a naturally aspirated power fan. A friend took me for a quick flyer in his wifes' '04 S4 with slushbox. Only mod was GIAC software - sucker still moved quick though. I can only imagine what the new RS4 must be like.
