                            The CSL race cars ran a variant of the M30 motor known as the M49 that evolved into the M90, M88 and finally S38. The M49 block wound up in the E12 M535i and early Euro 635CSis with an SOHC head where it was known as the M90, and in the M635, E28 M5, and E34 M5 as the M88 and S38. Over bored and shorter stroked than the M30, they had 93.355mm cylinders and an 84mm stroke. They feel different than a standard M30, even a Euro B34. Ken (Auto da fe) is lucky enough to have a genuine Euro M90 in his 335i
